Bevrijdingsdag 2015

Vandaag vieren we de bevrijding 70 jaar geleden. En ondanks al die verschrikking toen en al die mensen, die zeiden: "Dit nooit weer." Is er helaas nog steeds oorlog. En worden er nog steeds mensen afgeslacht en op weggejaagd uit hun eigen veilige huis. Dus ja, ik vier dat ik in een vrij land woon, maar met de wetenschap, dat het niet voor iedereen geldt en dat ik mij gelukkig mag prijzen, dat ik met mijn monsters nog een veilig dak boven mijn hoofd heb.

Today we celebrate the liberation 70 years ago. And inspite of all the horror then and all those people, who said: "Never again." there is still war. And there are still people who get slaughtered and are chased away from their own safe houses. So yes, I celebrate the fact that I live in a free country, but with the knowledge, that that isn't a fact for everybody and that I am one of the happy few that can live with my monsters in a safe and warm home.
