DIY Easter Candles

Een paar jaar geleden heb ik schattige servetjes gekocht bij de Albert Heijn. De illustraties van de Gouden Boekjes zijn altijd zo cute! En ja, toen had ik een heel pak servetten en vervolgens vond ik het zonde om ze te gebruiken! Op internet had ik ergens gelezen, dat ze met tissue-papier kaarsen hadden versierd. Prima idee, want dan kon ik veel langer genieten van de afbeeldingen! Met als gevolg dat de kaarsen nu ieder jaar met Pasen uit de Paaskist komen en nooit worden aangestoken, want dat is zonde van de afbeelding....

A couple of years ago I bought cute little napkins at the Albert Heijn. I always like the illustrations of the Little Golden Books. So, now I had a pack full of cute napkins and as a result, I didn't want to use them, because that would be such a shame! On the internet I had read, that somebody had embellished candles with tissuepaper. Great idea, that way I could enjoy the illustrations for a much longer time! And now they appear each year with Easter out of the box filled with Easter decorations and they have never been lit, because that would be such a waste of the cute illustration.....

Tutorial

Wat heb je nodig?

- Papieren servetjes

- Kaarsen

- Heattool

What do you need?

- Paper napkins

- Candles

- Heattool

Haal alle laagjes van een servetje van elkaar en knip de afbeelding uit, die je wilt gebruiken.

Peel of all the layers of the napkin and cut out the illustration you want to use.

Knip het servetje op maat. Zorg dat er ongeveer 1 cm overlapping is.

Cut the napkin at the right size. Make sure that there is 1/2" overlap.

Neem de heattool en verwarm voorzichtig de omwikkelde kaars. Blijf niet te lang op een plaats met je heattool, want dan krijg je deuken in je kaars (yep, ik heb nu een hele mooie gedeukte kaars...).

Take the heattool and carefully heat the wrapped candle. Don't stay to long in one place with the heattool, otherwise you will get dents in your candle (yep, I have a very nicely dented candle now...).

Als er een glanzend laagje op het servetje verschijnt, dan zit het servetje goed om de kaars. De foto hierboven is niet heel scherp, maar maakt hopelijk wel duidelijk wat ik bedoel.

If a shiny coating appears on the napkin, then the napkin is wrapped allright around the candle. The picture above is not very sharp, but I hope that it illustrates what I mean.
